In an increasingly digitalised world, many people tend to store their photographs on hard drives and let them fall into oblivion. This was the starting point for my project dedicated to printed photography. Despite my oft-repeated statement that "photographs must be printed", I had rarely taken the initiative to do so myself, and the aim of this project was to contextualise photographs in an exploratory way and to engage with different aspects of books, printing, binding and exhibitions. It was not about creating a perfect photo book, but rather about simply starting and "doing". The focus was on intuitive design rather than excessive thinking. This creative process was a conscious departure from the classic design process, which is often characterised by schemes and methods. Instead, the focus was placed on the intuitive and "making" as the central objective, and in order to achieve this, I deliberately dispensed with supervising professors and organised myself independently. All the works have been created since March 2024, with the exception of the book "The Mess in Several Acts", which I would also like to present.

The project marked the start of the 2024 summer semester and was created as part of a short project under the guidance of Paula Winkler. Over the course of two weeks, I documented the lives and stories of lorry drivers. Fascinated by people's stories, I spent valuable time at various lorry parks. One of the most impressive encounters I had was with Majan. Our conversation about the differences between North Macedonia and Germany impressively showed me the diverse and often challenging realities of life for these professionals.

During my stay in Morocco, I noticed that almost every shop, hotel, market or railway station had a picture of the king. What particularly caught my eye was that these pictures were usually hanging at an angle. After a brief internet search, the headlines of the media became clear: the king seems to behave as crookedly as the pictures hanging on the walls, characterised by escapades, corruption and authoritarian behaviour. This project is a creative homage intended to encourage critical reflection on the cult of personality.

In the summer semester of 2023, I devoted myself to the ethical limits of artificial intelligence in the short project ‘Wintermu- te’. The whimsical yet cute crea- tures made of meat were also created within this framework. The ‘Wintermute’ project provided the perfect opportunity to take an in-depth look at the complex ethical issues surrounding AI. These digitally generated creatures served as a humorous yet thought-provoking illustration of the possibilities and limits of artificial intelligence.

This photobook takes you on an impressive journey through two post-Soviet republics whose history and cultural heritage still characterise the appearance of these countries today, resulting in a visual narrative that documents the changes and continuities in these post-Soviet societies. This book is not only a collection of images, but also a documentary work that offers insights into the past and present of these countries.

This project was born out of the conviction that photos should not just disappear into digital archives. The abundance and quality of the pictures I took inspired me to create a small, handmade photo book with thread stitching to give the photos the stage they deserve.

In my semester project, I documented an exploratory trip through the Balkans with a Sony Hi8 camera. I then broke down the impressions captured on film into individual frames and arranged them in a grid. This process created fascinating forms and a pattern-like overall appearance. Converting the moving images into static patterns creates an exciting dialogue between the snapshot and the overall composition.

My semester abroad in Hong Kong allowed me to discover analogue photography in an affordable and accessible way. I was particularly impressed by the vibrant diversity and dynamism of the local markets. I recorded this visual and cultural fascination in a photo diary documenting the impressions and experiences of my stay in an analogue photo diary.

As part of the elective module for the winter semester 2023/2024, the task was to take portraits of people on campus. Instead of taking direct portraits, I decided to photograph the surroundings of two people. This approach allowed me to subtly capture and portray their everyday working lives and personalities. The photographs offer an insight into the daily lives and characters of the people portrayed without depicting them directly.

As part of my free project in the summer semester 2024, I created two flipbooks. Each flipbook consists of short ‘videos’ that bring brutalist architecture to life. Each flipbook consists of one to three videos and were broken down into individual frames. This traditional technique brings movement to life by quickly flipping the pages and demonstrates my skills in visual communication and video editing.

Due to a torn ligament in Hong Kong, I was forced to spend longer periods of time in my room. Due to the extreme lack of space and the high rent prices in the city, it is common to share a 12 square metre room. During the eight weeks that I was tied to my room, I decided to use my time productively. Out of an initial boredom, I created an analogue photo documentary that captures the chaos of my flatmate.
