The cc: is a coworking space at Bertolt-Brecht-Straße 29/29A directly above the KiezKino and diagonally above the Kiez Café. A place to work together or alone. With workshops and the occasional event. An open office for all those who can no longer see their own walls. The cc: project is about two workspaces in the Kiez building that are made accessible to students and Dessau residents. We want to bring people together so that they can enter into a dialog and a healthy exchange can take place. No social meeting place connects young and old Dessau residents and new students the way the Kiez does. The primary aim is to allow the existing structures to interact more with each other. VorOrt is a good blueprint for this, but many students and residents don't know it. The Schillig is the starting signal for a dialog between the generations, should the café really be implemented. The university almost only involves students and the occasional employee in everyday life and events. It is only through exhibitions, parties and other events organized by students that the connection between the city and the university increases. The system is based on the networking of existing structures. The aim is to create a blueprint and use this system as an adaptive concept for the revitalization of Dessau and other cities. We want to bring the university more into the urban context and make it part of civil society. More involvement means more opportunities and possibilities for both sides.

It took eight weeks before we finally took a step towards a corporate identity. We discussed and brainstormed for a very long time, but never really came to an agreement on many aspects. The process was the really interesting part, because we have six designers in our group who all design in their own way and understand aesthetics. Even numerous methods didn't get us any closer to our goal over time. The problem could have been that we wanted to work on two tracks right from the start. It was literally difficult to develop the concept and corporate identity in parallel.
Right from the start, our plan was of course to develop products for the space. The idea that everyone should design a lamp and a cup came about as a bit of fun. By the end of the project, not everyone had created a lamp or a cup, but everyone had engaged with the topic and given each other feedback. In addition to this side-quest, Jan worked on the topic of a table. How can we develop a space-saving yet large work table from existing materials that can be folded up in an emergency to create more space?

The new 3D printers gave us the opportunity to try out ideas straight away and get to grips with the subject of 3D printing. The whole thing was accompanied by a steep learning curve and many failed attempts. In the end, we still have our finished, functioning products in our hands. The finished cc:

The cc: not only offers you inexpensive workstations with 24/7 access, but also two 3D printers, a laser cutter, a printer and other materials to get creative. In addition to a fridge and snack trolley, the cc: offers you free coffee. If you would like to work at cc: or even take on tasks, please get in touch and become part of the project.
