Martin Naumann and I had the pleasure of designing the latest publication of the Materiability Lab at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences by Prof. Dr. Manuel Kretzer. The book was published by AADR in 2024.
Synthetic Realities embarks on a groundbreaking journey into the dynamic landscape of design, art and architecture in the era of artificial intelligence. Edited by Manuel Kretzer and authored by a cadre of internationally renowned practitio- ners, educators and thinkers, this collection provides a sweeping overview of how AI
is reshaping creative fields, blending the digital with the physical and redefining the boundaries of materiality and aesthetics. The book delves into the profound influence of digitization on creative processes, critically examining how emerging technologies foster new forms of expression and innovation. It navigates the exciting intersection of biology and digital technology, revealing cutting-edge material innovations and bio- digital synergies. Beyond redefining aesthetic and spatial experiences in our digitized era, this volume offers fresh, compelling perspectives on the symbiosis of artificial and organic elements. Concluding with insightful philosophical reflections, Synthetic Realities is an intellectual odyssey that challenges readers to reconsider their un- derstanding of the relationship between humans, technology and creativity. A must- read for visionaries and enthusiasts, or anyone interested in the future of design and architecture, it beckons you to expand your perspectives and immerse yourself in the limitless possibilities that AI introduces to the worlds of creative endeavour.

In addition to the design and typesetting, my project “Ethics and AI” was mentioned in an article by Prof. Dr. Manuel Kretzer. In the two-week course project, I dealt with the ethical hurdles of AI.
"In the course of a dialogue between the student and ChatGPT, a myriad of fictional scenarios, reports, columns, and articles were explored, primarily characterized by a satirical, sensational, and provocative style. Topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), job losses due to AI, surveillance and control, along with some humorous and absurd stories and horoscopes, were covered. The process documentation included the creation of fictional political conflicts, bizarre stories about robots causing chaos in factories, and gendering in education, particularly in the fictional Rainbow School. Additionally, the potential dangers of AI were examined, and horoscopes were created that related to a world dominated by AI.
During this creative process, various text styles, titles, and headlines were collectively developed and adapted to suit specific requirements. Several iterations were made based on feedback and guidelines, modifying the texts as needed to achieve the desired outcome. Throughout the conversation, the Bild newspaper was used as a reference for a sensational, populist, and provocative writing style. Various fictional articles, columns, and headlines were examined, which were written in the style of the Bild newspaper. Themes such as artificial intelligence, surveillance, and control, as well as absurd and humorous stories, were addressed. Overall, the Bild newspaper served as inspiration and a model for the style and tone of the produced texts, achieving the desired effect of satire and provocation."
